NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING
Menopause
Menopause is a significant life phase in which a woman’s body undergoes profound hormonal changes. These shifts affect not only the menstrual cycle and fertility but also many other bodily functions, including metabolism, bone health, the immune system, and mental well-being. Many women experience symptoms such as weight gain, joint pain, sleep disturbances, hot flashes, and mood swings during this time.
Targeted nutrition can help alleviate many of these symptoms and actively support overall health. A mindful diet promotes hormonal balance and contributes to greater well-being in this new stage of life.

WEIGHT LOSS DURING MENOPAUSE
The hormonal transition begins as early as five to ten years before the final menstrual period—this phase is called perimenopause. As estrogen levels decline, fat tends to accumulate more around the abdominal area while muscle mass decreases. This "hormonal weight gain during menopause" is not only a cosmetic issue but also increases the risk for cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. The loss of muscle mass also makes it more difficult to maintain or lose weight.
Fortunately, this process can be counteracted with the right nutritional approach. An anti-inflammatory diet rich in fresh vegetables, high-quality proteins, and healthy fats can help regulate weight more effectively. Dietary fiber from whole grains and legumes supports digestion and stabilizes blood sugar levels, reducing cravings. Personalized nutrition strategies can help women feel more comfortable and confident in their bodies.
OTHER MENOPAUSAL SYMPTOMS AND THE ROLE OF NUTRITION
In addition to weight gain, menopause often brings a range of other symptoms: sleep disturbances, brain fog, memory issues, mood swings, joint pain, increased water retention, and changes in the skin. Many of these complaints can be positively influenced through targeted nutrition.
A diet rich in fiber, healthy proteins, and a wide variety of plant-based foods can ease symptoms and significantly improve overall well-being during menopause.
MUSCLE GROWTH FOR WOMEN IN MENOPAUSE
As we age—especially during menopause—muscle mass naturally declines. This process is accelerated by decreasing estrogen levels and can lead to reduced mobility, a slower metabolism, and a higher risk of injury. However, a healthy muscular system is essential for fitness, bone health, and long-term vitality.
The good news: with the right nutrition and targeted exercise, muscle loss can be slowed down and even partially reversed. A protein-rich diet with high-quality sources such as fish, eggs, legumes, and lean meats promotes muscle growth and recovery. When combined with regular physical activity - especially strength training - women can build and maintain muscle mass and preserve their vitality well into older age.
